Introduction
Belkyra (commonly known as the American fat-dissolving injection) is an FDA-approved treatment for submental fat, containing deoxycholic acid, which disrupts fat cell membranes, leading to their dissolution and elimination through metabolism.

- Inform your healthcare provider if you are on blood-thinning medications.
- During Treatment: Takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the area.
- After Treatment: Redness, swelling, and bruising are normal; ice packs can alleviate discomfort for about three days.
Post-Treatment Care
- Ice the area for three days to reduce pain and swelling.
- Keep your head elevated while resting.
- Symptoms typically subside in 7-10 days.
- Expect swelling, bruising, and itching as the drug dissolves fat cells and causes inflammation.

- Most patients see improvement after 2-4 sessions. Discuss expectations with your doctor beforehand.
