The medical system has always been an important development direction of artificial intelligence (AI). According to estimations given by IBM, which has been actively working on AI in healthcare in recent years, the annual medical expenditure worldwide is more than US$5 trillion. Artificial intelligence can not only reduce the huge medical cost, but also enhance the precision of medical treatment and lower the loss of money and life caused by misdiagnosis and medical disputes.
The purpose of founding this center is to build an artificial intelligence analyzer focusing on brain plasticity and learning, and to integrate the existing advantages of the hospital's prospective mathematical research and rich clinical cases to organize an interdisciplinary team. Thus, the researchers can get a deeper understanding of the brain's learning mechanism, in an effort to assist clinicians with early diagnosis and precise treatment to benefit patients with degenerative brain diseases, expecting to become a top international research center.
