Cancer Center
In order to provide the best patient-centered treatment, the CMUH builds the Cancer Center Building at the intersection of Wuquan Road and Xueshi Road. The Cancer Center, opened on November 16, 2007, occupies about 10,000-ping area, and the Cancer Center Building consists of 9 floors aboveground and 2 floors underground.
The Radiotherapy Division is set in the 2nd basement floor of the Cancer Center. With 4 linear accelerators, including the tomotherapy, rapid arc, and other advanced equipment, it is the Radiotherapy Center which supports the most service capacity in the central Taiwan and provides the all-around, precise-positioning radiation therapy. On the 1st basement floor, the Nuclear Medicine Division is set to support PET and a variety of scans.
In order to respect the patients' rights and interests and to comply with the privacy of the treatment, the Out-patient Clinics of Gynecologic Oncology Division, Urology Oncology Division and Oral Cancer are also set on the 1st basement floor. On the 1st and 2nd floors of the Cancer Center, the Out-patient Clinic is set for every patient-centered cancer teams, including the Chinese medicine, nutrition, pain, social worker, health education, case management counseling centers and symptom handling centers. The Cancer Center constructs the wards from the 3rd to the 5th floor, the joint cancer research laboratory on the 6th floor, the stem cell research center on the 7th floor, the molecular medicine center on the 8th floor and the animal experiment center on the 9th floor.
There are 3 stairs of Cancer Center Building connected to the Critical Care Center Building. The Medical Oncology wards, set from the 4th to 6th floor of the Critical Care Center Building, operates 50 good-lighting, novel and comfortable beds for outpatient chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant center and 200 beds for oncology. They are the most innovative, comfort, safe, and patient-oriented wards. In addition, the 1st floor of the Critical Care Center Building is set the newest and best protective I131 treatment isolation wards in Taiwan, in order to provide the newest services for I131 treatment.
The Cancer Center governs the lung cancer, breast cancer, head and neck cancer, cervical cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, urinary tract cancer, radiotherapy, hospice shared care, nutrition care, cancer screening, cancer data, cancer case management, and other related teams and the single Contact Window of Cancer Resources.
The Cancer Center has contracted with University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (UT MDA) for cancer researches.In 2010 February, the Cancer Center was subsidized by the Center of Excellence for Cancer Research (CECR), a 4-year project offered by the Health Administration, Executive Yuan.
