Since 1980, China Medical University Hospital ( CMUH ) has developed from a small local hospital to a regional hospital, and now, became a medical center. We have built up a significant well-known healthy-care system in the heart of Taichung city, the middle area of Taiwan. Looking forward, CMUH has concaved several challenges including 921 earthquake, SARS and other major disasters. Under Chairman Tsai’s excellent leadership, CMUH can conquer all difficulties by way of the effects made by all personnels. Meanwhile, CMUH also expanded from a single building to 8 now. We try to make our best efforts to provide more comfortable environment and modernized equipments for citizens’ healthy-care.

By considering patients’ health, CMUH never stops trying to recruit the experts in every field to make up the dream-team for disease management. Now we can provide several excellent teams in many fields against most common diseases. For example, Liver and Kidney Transplantation Center, Trauma and Emergency Center, Stroke Center, Cardiovascular center, and Neuropsychiatry Center. The survival rate of living-donation liver transplantation is still the leading status in the middle of Taiwan. Our attending physicians of the critical center fulfill the requirement to provide fastest and most correct reponses by way of standing on the first line to lead the trauma team. Such efforts earned the Silver Award in the National Quality Awards. We can recannulate occluded brain vessels within 37 minutes with thrombolytic agents, and fulfill the requirements from overseas. Meanwhile, we develop new method in intracranial hematoma removal by way of endoscopy technology. These outstanding results belong to Stroke center made us to win the Silver Award in the National Quality Awards. Our Cardiovascular Center also performs coronary artery rescue procedures within 25 mins after arrival. Not only fulfilled the demands of excellent medical centers worldwide, but we also work hard try to compete with other medical centers abroad. Several experimental therapies are going on. Our Neuropsychiatry Center treats senior stroke patients with stem cell transplanation. Immunotherapy for incurable neuroglioma also is applied by Cancer center.

These accomplishments today are attributable to all the ex-superintendents. Dr.Wang, Ting-Fu, the first superintendent, established the essential fundamental elements of the hospital. Dr.Tsai, Chang-Hai, the second superintendent, enrolled all the talent experts and built up the hospital with far-seeing point of view and grand blueprint. Dr.Lin, Cheng-Chieh, the third superintendent, gradually expanded the perfect medical system for CMUH. These achievements described above also belong to each colleague. Due to the sacrifices and hard-working by all employees, CMUH can grow up with moving on.
